Originally shared by Chris Greisman Precious the VW broke down on way to work. Strange curlicue symbol started flashing on dashboard just at I-83/695 interchange. Car lost power & turbocharger cut off.
Racked my brains trying to remember what that symbol meant while merging onto 695. Meanwhile the car doesn't want to accelerate, acting like the Prius in super-Eco mode. I make it to Charles St. exit, then Kenilworth. Pull over, leaving car running, to look up the symbol in the manual, then it stalls. Won't start up.
Call AAA, call work, call Hubby, txt him a link to my location in Google Maps (worrywart he is). Sigh. I hope this is covered under warranty.
The symbol? When flashing, it means "Engine Control Malfunction". I think I just barely made it off the highway before it died.

So far: metal shavings found in fuel line. This could be another pump failure like last time, but last time was water in the line. I'm curious to know at what point along the fuel line it was found? If in the tank, it'll be the fuel itself, but if after any one if the pumps, then the pump is the likely culprit.
They better not try to void my warranty over this!
