Dad died this morning.
I was at work and the nurse called to tell me. I have 4 hours to get the funeral arrangements started. I called the crematory where he has prepaid arrangements.
Called my boss to tell her and I couldn't get her off the phone! One point of minutia after another: bereavement leave, City Jury Duty tomorrow (I don't know about that one), work details, etc.

I'm at the nursing home now, and his body is still so very warm. There's lividity already, and rigor mortis. I have an odd, base-level confusion about his inanimateness. He was just coughing and fidgetting last night when I visited...
It's still so odd to see his bone structure so clearly. He lost so much weight over the past year. I see our structural similarities too well now, it's disturbing a little.
